The BIG trip - an adventure to 4 countries over a 2 month period. We experienced so many different cultures, scenery, food and people. From watching amazing surfing to the splendor of Thai temples and the breathtaking views of New Zealand South Island to the wonderful city of Sydney - this trip had it all! A wonderful stay at the Can Gardens Resort at Side near Antalya. The food was fantastic and the weather unbelievable (only saw a few clouds on the first day otherwise totally cloudless). Great excursions to Antalya (good shopping - not too intensive) and some interesting Waterfalls and Roman Sites. But the highlight was the Fire of Analolia show at the 1800 year old theatre as Aspendos! September 2007 Turkey A wonderful stay at the Can Gardens Resort at Side near Antalya. The mountains were spectacular, went for many walks - the air is so fresh. Flew into Munich and drove down - great watching the mountains get nearer and bigger. Hotels, food and drink all great.... The weather could have been better! Many thunderstorms and a lot of rain, but it was warm rain - but only 'lost' 2 half days to the weather. Great trips, particularly driving speed boats. The Hotel Grounds are superb and the food was well cooked but very fishy.... March 2007 Cuba The weather could have been better! Sue and Lionel visited the Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth in June 2006, the views were spectacular. Also visited Mottisfont Abbey near Romsey, the Rose Gardens were beautiful ..... Sue and Lionel visited Warwick in April 2006. Warwick Castle was fascinating. Parts were set up in medieval times, others in the turn of the 20th century. Sue and Lionel went to Margarita Island (part of Venezuela). The usual routine was changed in the second week by a two day visit to Angel Falls and surrounding area - staying in a wood cabin overnight. A 29 hour delay on the way home gave us an opportunity to stay in another resort - the room was poor but the beach was great. Sue and Lionel went to Denia in Spain for their Autumn 2005 holiday. They stayed in a very quiet villa - Casa Ellie in Vina Larga 1. The mountain (Montgo) gave a great backdrop. Sue and Lionel went to Barcelona in August 2005 for a long weekend. Spent all of the weekend around La Ramlas and the Barri Gotic area. Went to the beach (by Cable Car), browsed the shops and relaxed by having drinks in the old parts of Barcelona. Sue and Lionel went on a mini tour of England in May 2005 - shopping in Birmingham and Manchester Centres (The Print Works has Old Orleans - great Restaurant) then to the Trafford Centre - spectacular. Finally spent two days in Iron Bridge - needed them - lots to see and do. Check Out Horse and Jockey for award winning steak and kidney pie! Sue and Lionel went to Rhodes in September 2001. The Old Town of Rhodes was spectacular (like being in the Robin Hood's days!). Marvellous pool and good service, partcularly from Dora who looked after us well with drinks ...... Lionel and Sue went to Cancun in Mexico in Spring 2001. The pyramids at Chichen Itza were amazing. Sue and I managed to go to the top of the main pyramid, it was evan more scarry coming down! lionel and sue had a holiday in playa los americanos in tenerife in September 2000. The hotel was good but the entertainment was poor, we spent most evenings at the same bar because it had a live band that played music that was more modern than the mid 60's. We went Paragliding!!!! (but did not get any photos :-( ). Lionel and Sue went to Barcelona in June 2000, it became Lionel's favourite European City. As well as the sreet theatre of Las Ramblas, there is the beach, the harbour, the hill behind, the Olympic Stadium, the restaurants ........ Lionel and Sue went to Puerto Vallata on the west coast of Mexico in January 1999. It was a very unique place, the amazing woodwork and thatching made it seem very authentically Mexican. Lionel and Sue went to Malta for their Spring 1999 holiday. The food was good, the people excellent, but the apatment was not air conditioned and it was over 25C at night, had to sleep on the balcony! Lionel and Sue stayed at Gran Canaria in february 1998. The apartments was on the top of a hill with the main entertainment being the Barbacao which hosted many 'alikes' e.g Tom Jones alike, the main part of the town was down the hill ......
